Learn more about the Prevention Partners Inc and its role in Maine Dental prevention.

MISSION

Prevention Partners Inc is a non-profit service organization providing oral hygiene instruction and training by Maine licensed dental professionals. Registered dental hygienists are educated, certified and trained to instruct in overall oral hygiene preventive care and provide hands on clinical assessments and preventive maintenance therapies.

Since we are a 501(c)(3) public charity, all donations are tax deductible. Ask us for our tax id number if you would like to donate funds and resources to our cause.

SERVICES

Prevention Partners, Inc will bring the clinical dental hygiene services to public settings, including schools, nursing homes, hospitals, physicians' offices and community groups; this is a unique feature.

Prevention Partners' dental hygienists can provide preventive oral health care to the population who don't receive care in a dental office by providing services in public settings. Prevention of dental caries will save thousands of dollars for the public, state of Maine, Medicaid and insurance companies.

CUSTOMERS

Large portions of the population Prevention Partners will serve do not have access to dental care.

There are not enough dentists in Maine and nearly half are nearing retirement age. Maine children, age 4, have been observed with 12 decayed teeth, some beyond repair.

Tooth decay is an infectious transmissible disease and can be passed from primary caregivers to young children between 22-26 months of age.

Dental hygienists are licensed, oral health prevention specialists, in preventing dental disease.

Registered dental hygienists can apply fluoride varnishes that can reverse tooth decay up to 80%, according to a study done at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, done by Dr Jaana Autio, on 222 Head Start children.
